Records have it that Nigerian Benjamin Odeje was the first ever black footballer in history to play for England.
NIGERIA HISTORY & FACTS (@NigMuseum) informed that:
“Benjamin Odeje was the first black footballer to represent England at any level. In March 1971, aged 15-year-old, he was selected for the England school boys team to play Northern Ireland school boys at Wembley.
“England won 1-0.”
Benjamin Odeje has his roots in Nigeria.
